About...

Chinese pianist Yinzhi Yuan is a prize winner of many international competitions, including the 1st place of the International Medtner Competition at Heidelberg and the 3rd place of International Magnus Piano Competition. He also won the 1st place in Chappell Medal Piano Competition and the 2nd place in Kendall Taylor Beethoven Piano Competition – the most important competitions held by the Royal College of Music. He performed concerts across the UK and Europe, including London, Manchester, Brexton, Salzburg, Heidelberg, Mallorca etc. His solo recital at the International Piano Festival Torre de Canyamel was praised for “dazzling virtuosity and maturity with an eclectic program” (Faxdepera, 2023).

 

He began his professional studies in 2014 when he was admitted to Xinghai Conservatory Junior School, where he joined the class of Professor Jay Sun. In his three years there, he won several scholarship competitions, including the conservatory Yamaha scholarship competition and was subsequently invited by Yamaha to give a solo recital in Guiyang and record Bach's complete Inventions & Sinfonias in Shanghai as well. He has also won prizes in other competitions, including the Pearl River Piano Competition, Irmler International Youth Piano Competition and Kawai Asian Piano Competition. In 2017 he entered Royal College of Music under the class of Professor Dina Parakhina with a substantial scholarship. After graduation from the RCM in 2024, he joined the class of Pascal Nemirovski at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire under the program of Advanced Postgraduate Diploma. Additionally, he has had the honour of playing in masterclass for leading musicians such as Michel Béroff, Noriko Ogawa, Dina Yoffe, Stephen Hough, Simon Callaghan, Claudius Tanski, Christopher Elton, John Perry, Krzysztof Jablonski, Klaus Bässler, Read Gainsford, and others.
